Media statement – EDL supports WA flood response

The current flooding in the Kimberley region of Western Australia has impacted the normal fuel supply arrangements for EDL’s power stations in Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek.

While all EDL team members are safe, accessing fuel, materials and transporting team members in and out of these sites continues to be a significant challenge, with the Fitzroy River Bridge out of operation and the road from Broome to Derby remaining closed.

EDL is working closely with Horizon Power and the WA Department of Fire and Emergency Services to meet their requirements for alternate electricity generation arrangements in the flood affected locations until normal fuel supply arrangements can be resumed.

We know it’s an incredibly difficult time for these local communities, and our teams continue to work around the clock to meet emergency power requirements.
