EDL donates $250,000 to fight bushfires, offers to match employee donations up to another $250,000

Global sustainable distributed energy producer EDL has donated $250,000 to the Red Cross and rural fire services to support bush fire-fighting efforts, and offered to match employee donations up to $250,000.

EDL Chief Executive Officer James Harman said the bushfires currently threatening lives and property in Victoria and New South Wales were an absolute tragedy.

“In the midst of all of this, incredible humanity, compassion and courage has been shown by so many people—none more so than the volunteer firefighters who have tirelessly put themselves at risk to save other peoples’ lives and property,” he said.

“It is very humbling to see the efforts and commitment of these volunteers and EDL is eager to do what we can to contribute.”

Many of EDL’s Australian power stations are in rural and remote locations across Australia, with employees living in local communities.

In addition to the cash donation, EDL has offered paid leave to employees who are volunteer fire fighters (on top of their usual entitlement).
