About the power station
The Mucking landfill was the major refuse for the City of London, greater London and environs. Waste was floated 30 miles down the River Thames in barges from the City of London.
In 2007, the landfill was granted an extension for over tipping and eventually closed in 2011. Despite the landfill no longer operating, EDL’s Mucking Power Station is expected to produce LFG for electricity generation beyond 2030.
