About the power stations

Wingfield I and II Power Stations source waste gas from the Wingfield Waste and Recycling Centre and transform it into clean energy for the national grid.

Landfill gas (LFG) is generated from decomposing organic matter in refuse tips, and mostly consists of methane, carbon dioxide and organic compounds. LFG would otherwise be released into the atmosphere or flared. Instead, EDL converts the gas to electricity, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
