About the power station
EDL has operated the Pine Creek Power Station since 1988. Originally constructed to provide power to the town of Pine Creek and local mines, the station has evolved to be a critical part of the Northern Territory’s main grid—the Darwin-Katherine Interconnected System.
The station comprises two 10MW gas turbines equipped with heat recovery steam generators coupled to a 7MW steam turbine.
In 1996, the station’s power purchase agreement (PPA) was extended with the Northern Territory’s Power and Water Corporation for 20 years. In 2017, the PPA was transferred to Jacana Energy for five years.
